Beaches

Golden sandy beaches abound in Santander. In fact you are never further than a short walk or bus ride from one of the 10 beaches in the urban area of Santander. The famous Sardinero and Magdalena beaches are perhaps the most well known of all, attracting tourists from Castille and Madrid.

Mountains

The Picos de Europa mountain range just a short drive from Santander offers a setting of breathtaking beauty and spectacular scenery. Visit the mountain peak of Fuente Dé by cable car, follow one of the many hiking and horse riding routes through the Picos or discover tiny villages where it is still possible to see an agricultural way of life which has disappeared in many countries.

Travelling to Santander

Daily flights are available from London Stansted airport to Santander Parayas airport, which is 10 minutes from the city centre. Brittany Ferries offer two sailings per week from Plymouth, England to Santander. Alternatively, daily flights are operated from London to Bilbao which is one hour from Santander.
